This year, London has hosted the first open backgammon, which is considered one of the main events on this skill an strategy game. During a hot day by the Támesis River, more exactly at Dogget’s Coat and Badge pub in Blackfriars Bridge, Sothwark world bets backgammon players meet to face each other.

Over a hundred players from United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and United States participated in the event and worked very hard to get the title of Open Backgammon 2009 London Champion. The tournament was the first official backgammon tournament in the history. Three competitions took place: championship, informal standard game and medium level. Besides, there were some parallels dames with very interesting jackpots.

However, most emotive event for the amateurs was no the amount of the prizes but the exciting end. Koch and Fetterlein fought head to head till the first one got the victory surrounded by a powerful applause .

Open Backgammon 2009 London event was an unprecedented and was a great success, attracting the public and players alike. The championship attracted 56 players in total, while more than 30 players participated in the events of mid-level and informal play.
