The Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad signed an agreement to include skill games on its website. Besides backgammon, some of the new games will be 8-Ball Pool, Solitaire and Golf Hole-in-One.
Currently, the website offers other online games like Blender, Double Trouble, Dragons Mah Jong, Mystic Cards Masters Edition, Ready! Aim! Fire! and Symbols Link Lunacy. It also offers e-cards, quizzes, radio online, crosswords, contests and music downloads on its Fun section.
The new games come after a distribution agreement with GamArena. Branded as Nieuwsblad.be, the website will help Corelio Media Group’s online business to grow. Corelio is the parent company of the newspaper. Also, GamArena seeks its own expansion, including support services and peer-to-peer content.
According to Patrick Salien, managing director of Het Nieuwsblad, “games will become an important piece of our online offering and p2p skill games provide enormous entertainment to players.” The website is expected to be completed this month.
