World Series of Gammon 2006
Backgammon will indeed be the new poker in 2006
Starting from April 2006, the The World Series of Gammon will begin their branded onland Backgammon tournament season. Starting in London in April and ending in Las Vegas in November, the eight month World Series of Gammon will culminate with one winner being crowned the ‘Backgammon Champion of the World’.

Other major participating cities will include Paris, Vienna, Rome and Sydney. “The World Series of Gammon will match and overtake the World Poker Tour due to the completely unexpected growth of backgammon.” Stated Joe Laurence Marketing Manager of Laurence Media. “Since we launched our Backgammon website in December 2005, we have been overwhelmed by the popularity of the unique board game. Backgammon has its origins in the Middle East and, in fact, you can still see old men sitting outside small coffee houses in Beirut, Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi playing the traditional game locally known as shesh besh. However, the game has truly come of age in the 21st century.”

Poker has boomed from its successful televised tournaments offering staggering cash prizes. However, backgammon is set to become the game of the future due to the unlimited restrictions of skill games versus casino games. “With the growth of the World Poker Tour, the European Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker, online poker has experienced an interest, unparalleled in recent history. However, we believe that that backgammon will indeed be the new poker in 2006.” Joe Laurence added.

Once The World Series of Gammon website has been launched in the coming days, all dates and venues of the tour will be announced.
