Play backgammon on Skype
Skype Extras offers the game for free
The 3.0 version of the popular peer-to-peer telephony network allows its users to download and play backgammon at no cost. Users have responded positively to this possibility, which has become very popular in the last few months.

Four months ago, Skype.com launched Skype Extras, featuring a variety of accessories and games to enhance the users’ experience of their services. Those add-ons have been welcomed by customers, now totaling over 10,000 downloads.

The game, as all games included on Skype Extras, is turn-based. It allows two players. Other games available are chess, draughts (checkers), dominoes, hangman, battleships and Chinese checkers. Some admit multiple players.

Some are worried about the new Skype features, not seeing the point of adding games, money transfer capabilities or picture avatars to Skype’s traditional communication functionalities. Skype claims it’s trying to make free Internet and chat more productive and entertaining.
