“Sorry, Mr. Kasparov, Astraware Boardgames is for regular folks only!” Howard Tomlinson, Astraware’s CEO, said. The company just released Astraware Boardgames, a computer software featuring a collection of eight classic board games: Chess, Backgammon, Reversi, Ludo, Checkers, Nine Men’s Morris, Snakes and Ladders and Tic-Tac-Toe.
"We wanted to come up with a range of fun games that everyone knows, and everyone can enjoy playing," Tomlison explained. "I love being able to pick up any of the board games, know that I stand a chance of winning, and have fun playing,” he added.
Players can choose among three levels of difficulty according to their expertise on the games. Astraware Boardames welcomes both early beginners and experienced players. It allows to modify rules, edit games, and play against the computer or other players. User profiles and automatic saving when exiting are also included.
Graphics and sound effects are designed to evoke the feel of classic wooden board games. For that matter, the design of the pieces and their movement has been carefully studied. Astraware Boardgames is available at http://www.astraware.com/boardgames.
