The boxer sold the shorts to participate in the World Championship
A gaming operator specialized in backgammon spent an important amount of money on Roman Greenberg’s boxing briefs. Greenberg will use the money to improve his boxing techniques. By sponsoring the boxer, the backgammon operator aims to put Greenberg in the World Boxing Organization’s Top Five.
The boxing shorts will be sold at an auction, starting on $100.000. The money will be used to help Arabian and Jewish youth affected by poverty. It is believed that through sports, and specially with games such as backgammon or tavli –the ancient Greek variation of the game, popular among Arabians, peoples will get together peacefully.
Greenberg, who is 24, is one of the youngest heavyweight boxers competing at a professional level. He is currently an intercontinental world champion, also undefeated, but that’s not enough for him. “I want to be the world champion,” he says.
The backgammon operator has sponsored the boxer since he began playing and will continue helping him throughout his boxing career.
